Thing #23 The End

Having never really explored Google other than as a search engine or for images I learned that Google has more things than I ever knew they had. I had never been on Facebook, Twitter or You Tube it was fun learning about them. I think doing some of the activities in a classroom setting would have helped me. The databases was challenging but with a little blood, sweat, and tears I was successful. All in all it was interesting and informative.I think there would patrons who would love to do some of the activities such as novelist and some of the databases.

Thing #22 Reading Recommendations

Using NoveList I searched the Thrillers and Suspense Recommended Reads list. I then narrowed it down to Bad Medicine where I found the book Lie Still by David Farris taht looked interesting. This would be useful for when you are looking for books that are similar in style to an author that you really enjoy reading.

Thing #21 Subscribe to a BookLetter

I subscribed to the Books on the Air. This will be useful when patrons ask about a book they heard about on the radio or TV and they only have partial information on the book.

Thing #20 Recommend a book

My book recommedation is tell No One by Harlan Coben.

Thing #19 Comparing Wikis

1.Browsed through Library Success: A best Practices Wiki and Blogging Libraries Wiki.
2.Looked at Wookieepedia and Muppet Wiki.
3.Lots of interesting info. A good way for libraries to swap information.

Thing # 18 Play in the sandbox

The two pages I edited were Favorite Author and Favorite Movies. My favorite authors are Stephen King, Dean Koontz and John Saul. My favorite movies are Sound of Music and Shawshank Redemption.

Thing #17 Podcasts

Tried to go to Grammar Girl but had a computer error so I visited Merriam-Webster word of the day podcast. I then traveled to podcast.com where I listened to Scientific American's Science in a minute where I learned I traveled about 584 million miles around the sun in a year. I listened to a CNN podcast. I'm not sure this is something I will use very often.
